History of the Trust Fund

The Sangha Tri-National Trust Fund (FTNS) was established in March 2007 as a non-profit private entity according to English law under the name Sangha Trust Fund Limited.

The Sangha Tri-National Trust Fund is a Trust Fund for the fostering of environment in the Central African region with aim to contribute to the long-term financing of conservation, eco-development and cross-border cooperation within the forest complex called the Sangha Tri- National (TNS).

The result of a true partnership between public and private actors, and as a pioneer Trust Fund for the Tri -National oriented environment, FTNS figures as a model for the development of innovative and sustainable funding mechanisms to support the Convergence Plan of the Central African Forest Commission (COMIFAC).

It was registered in the UK where it received charity status in 2008 under numbers 112327 and No. 6193079

Dr Claude Martin former WWF Director General (1993-2005) is its founding member.

in 2008, FTNS signed a cooperation agreement with the ministry in charge of Forests and Protected Areas in all three TNS countries. In 2010, FTNS is recognized as a foreign Fund authorized to exercise in Cameroon.
